At NCCI, we're looking for a Filing Consultant to join our team in a crucial role in enhancing our filing processes while ensuring compliance and supporting our commitment to excellence. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Research and Analysis:

  • Take research provided and make changes to the workers compensation infrastructure through the creation of appropriately worded item filings
  • Coordinate with researchers to ensure a complete understanding of the reasons for formulating a change to the infrastructure
  • Determine and recommend additional research needs (data extracts including exposure, claims, credibility, and rates) as needed for a filing

Project Management:

  • Develop project plans and timelines for completion of filings, documentation, and other deliverables
  • Identify appropriate external and internal parties who may be interested in a filing and assist in the development of communication plans as needed

Communication and Coordination:

  • Contact external partners (regulators, trade associations, carriers, independent bureaus, etc.) as needed
  • Partner with State Relations Executives on underwriting-related issues to achieve corporate, divisional, and departmental goals

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Prepare item filings along with all appropriate exhibits, manual entries, industry notifications, and educational materials accurately and timely
  • Manage and update circulars and notices as needed in support of filings
  • Accurately write, update, and support national and state special rules in NCCI's manuals
  • Publish content correctly, timely, and as approved

Review and Support:

  • Conduct internal and external reviews as appropriate
  • Respond to any subsequent interrogatories
  • Provide advanced technical level consultation, subject matter expertise, and technical support to external customers and internal staff on related filing or circular issues, and state-specific rules, classifications, and endorsements

WHAT IT TAKES:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in workers compensation insurance
    • In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of relevant workers compensation insurance experience required, such as an underwriter, inspector, premium auditor, claims adjuster, regulatory compliance or producer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all audiences
  • Ability to accurately write effective professional documents and reports, and conduct presentations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, advanced technical knowledge, and interpersonal skills to resolve disputes
  • In-depth knowledge of Workers Compensation underwriting manuals, plans, rules, classification system, Basic Manual rules, experience rating, retrospective rating, residual market rules and procedures
  • Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills with the ability to manage and resolve issues
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Association Compliance Professional (ACP)
  • Certified Compliance Professional (CCP)
  • Associate in Regulation and Compliance (ARC)
