Job Overview:

NCCI, located in Boca Raton, FL, is a highly respected organization in the workers compensation insurance industry known for being the trusted source of information services. We are looking for a Lead Data Analyst – Medical Data   to join our team.

This individual coordinates activities across staff members and with other teams as needed to accomplish Data Resources operational objectives. The person in this role needs to possess a broad depth of technical knowledge and be the expert at their function. They are the "go-to" person on the collection and validation of medical data across divisions and can act as the subject matter expert for team procedures and manuals impacting critical data deliverables. The individual would have a solid understanding of insurance, specifically Workers Compensation, claims, or medical billing.  The person is viewed as an expert to external data providers, independent rating bureaus, and state agencies as appropriate for their role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Coordinate team activities to meet established goals and measurements. Includes planning of team meetings and tracking of Corporate/Divisional/Departmental goals.
  • Identify key business process issues, underlying causes/effects to develop new methods, plans and processes based upon industry needs.
  • Oversee team process and procedure manuals ensuring all are kept current and meet business partner agreements.
  • Supports industry communication, teleconferences, and external training events. This includes developing, reviewing, and delivering materials in formal and informal settings.
  • Provide quality control to work coordinated by hands-on reviewing the quality of work performed by staff members, working with others to improve quality, and supporting staff in resolving more complex issues.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE POSITION:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years experience in an analytical role in a service-oriented, financial, and/or insurance related enterprise; a business operations or data management environment where primary work performed involves web-based or other business systems; a role working in a team environment to meet joint objectives requiring operational procedures.
  • 3 years experience in a role that includes updating and maintaining technical documentation and organizing, compiling and analyzing information using Microsoft Excel.
  • In lieu of a degree, 9 years relevant work experience as indicated above is required
  • Understands use of data standards, data layouts, database uses, data viewing tools, and data reports to identify root cause and resolve data issues; understands impacts of issues and changes across multiple data management and data usage areas
  • Experience resolving data issues impacting multiple data providers, data sources or databases; independently drawing conclusions and implementing solutions
  • Experience making connections between systems functionality and processes/ procedures considering customer service impacts; developing new systems-based workflows, and new processes and procedures; can delivers team training on issues and changes
  • Experience creating business requirements for systems changes to support team processes
  • Understands the use of operations metrics, trends, and work monitoring to ensure completion of timely/quality work; developing work assignments and plans that will deliver on goals
  • Experience understanding work quality review principles and working hands-on with team members to improve quality
  • Experience identifying broad customer communication needs, developing communication content, and leading and reviewing broad external customer communications and technical documentation
  • Experience in leading efforts to improve cross-team processes and regularly providing input or suggestions on tactical issues
  • Experience preparing reports on customer issues to be shared with a broad internal audience
  • Experience working with team members /work contributors not meeting quality standards; developing plans of action to strengthen areas needing improvement for individuals or multiple team members
  • Experience communicating fluently with external customers /internal partners from their perspective
  • Experience with the use of MS Excel to assemble, summarize, and present meaningful analysis using customer data and team performance data
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access
  • Proficient in SQL or PL/SQL or equivalent relational database query language and scripts.
  • Experience with guiding others during significant process changes that includes new systems
  • Experience coordinating and prioritizing work activities and goals

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A MORE VIABLE CANDIDATE:

  • Knowledge of insurance, claims, or financial data, ideally in Workers Compensation
  • Experienced using data extract and/or systems testing tools
  • Experienced developing reports to be used in data analysis processes
  • Experienced with working end-to-end through project life-cycle of systems development from business perspective– needs assessment, project vision, project scope, business requirements, testing strategy
  • Insurance Data Management Association (IDMA) certifications
