Job Overview:

NCCI, located in Boca Raton, FL, is a highly respected organization in the workers compensation insurance industry known for being the trusted source of information services. We are looking for a Project Portfolio Manager to join our team.

This individual provides overall project portfolio process management and leadership enabling a solid continuous project portfolio process. Works collaboratively with PMO, Information Technology and business areas, ensuring a prioritized and optimized project portfolio of over 100 enterprise projects.

WORK LOCATION:

We will consider either local or remote, US-based candidates.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Responsible for effectively leading, managing, and ensuring those supporting the project portfolio process fully understand the goals, functions, process, and what is expected from a quality and timing perspective. 
  • Serve as an advocate and mentor throughout the process ensuring all key functions and activities, such as project requests/charters, prioritization, budget estimating, resource/capacity management, forecasting, etc., occur as planned.
  • May be called upon to consult on or manage large initiatives, which would involve all aspects of project and program management expertise and oversight.
  • Accountable for the overall project portfolio process and serves as the process architect and owner thereby responsible for developing effective methods and procedures. 
  • Produces quality and timely project portfolio information to share with higher-level leaders and stakeholders.  Examples include project portfolio snapshots, forecasts, and an annual project portfolio that serves as a baseline plan for the year.
  • Accountable for guiding, informing and making recommendations relative to project selection, prioritization, scheduling, etc., to best optimize the portfolio.
  • In partnership with the Director-PMO, is responsible for supporting corporate and divisional planning activities such as: corporate strategic initiatives, corporate and divisional objective setting, ensuring quarter end results for the corporate objectives are available prior to the quarterly Board of Directors meetings, etc.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE POSITION:

  • Bachelor’s degree, 6 years of project management experience; including 3 years of project portfolio management or comparable experience requiring critical thinking, analysis, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • In lieu of degree and/or certification, additional relevant work experience required.
  • Advanced project management skills (proficient with Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge) as well as agile principles and methodologies.
  • Ability to think strategically, critically and analytically, while acquiring and maintaining broad and overall knowledge about:
  • Corporate and divisional priorities and objectives
  • All projects in the portfolio and those being considered for the portfolio, relative to project goals, value, priority, interdependencies, risks, etc.
  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively both written and verbally, to diverse groups of people.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, negotiation, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution, issues, and change management.
  • Demonstrated success in management of large, complex, programs/projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Skilled in the practice of being able to proactively influence and build consensus.
  • Teaming, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Budgeting/financial analysis skills (estimating, tracking, forecasting, issue identification).
  • Successful experience working with mid- and senior level executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong MS Project and Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Familiarity with MS SharePoint and MS Power BI
