Compensation Manager

NCCI seeks an agile, accountable, and engaged individual to join the HR team as Compensation Manager. This is a new role for the organization. This individual contributor will manage NCCI’s compensation program, policies and procedures to ensure they align with the company’s total rewards philosophy, drive and support NCCI’s business strategies, operate efficiently and effectively, remain competitive and sustainable.

Key responsibilities:

Core: Manages and administers the day-to-day compensation function to include reviewing job descriptions, evaluating jobs, participating in salary surveys, analyzing market data, establishing salary ranges, proposing the merit increase budget, facilitating the annual process for merit increases, incentive awards and market adjustments and ensuring processes and decisions are compliant with federal and state regulations.

Technology:Configures and maintains the compensation areas of Dayforce HCM and other HR-related applications. Evaluates and tests upgrades and new technology to support the Compensation function.Seeks ways to leverage technology to improve productivity and analytics.Operates as a back-up to the HCM System Manager. Seeks ways to continuously improve and modernize compensation processes and procedures with a focus on driving “best practices.”

Communications:Prepares reports for the Board of Directors and management including SEC-related reports such as the Compensation & Discussion Analysis. Provides ongoing education and communication in various forms to managers and employees on compensation practices. Interfaces regularly with the HR Business Partners to support their needs.

Trends:Keeps up with and communicates market trends in compensation. Researches and proposes updates to existing programs, processes and reports. Recommends new ways of operating while staying current with legislative changes. Regularly networks with other Compensation professionals.

Background requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of job evaluation processes, pay structures, job classification methodologies, incentive plan design, SEC-related reporting (specifically CD&A) and compliance requirements, trends and developments in compensation, including applicable governmental regulations

  • Possesses an excellent analytical, quantitative (e.g. mathematical, statistics) critical thinking foundation and related financial/business skills; advanced MS Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint skills

  • Demonstrated HR Systems experience, preferably Ceridian Dayforce HCM

  • Exhibits robust collaboration skills at all levels of the organization; solid project management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment; and a strong sense of confidentiality

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in compensation planning, development, design, implementation, analysis, and administration

  • Data analytics expertise
