WHO WE ARE:
NCCI is looking for a Senior Counsel to be part of our Legal Team. Come join our in-house legal division at our established and well-respected company in the exciting and challenging mission to foster a healthy workers compensation system. NCCI is nearing its 100 year anniversary in providing services to the workers compensation industry. The position will be based in our Corporate Office in Boca Raton, Florida.
WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS POSITION:
As part of NCCI’s Legal team, you will:
•identify, analyze, and provide recommendations to mitigate significant legal risks and exposures to the company’s business and operations
•provide advice and counsel to business unit personnel and management (including senior management) and
•oversee complex legal issues of respective business units and other major corporate projects.
In the Senior Counsel role, tasks will include:
•Planning, conducting, and managing complex legal assignments, necessitating ability to evaluate matters which may have a significant bearing on the conduct of the company’s business and its operations. Function as the lead attorney for NCCI division or key company initiatives.
•Interact with members of management including senior management, industry stakeholders and federal/state regulatory agencies on legal matters in areas of particular expertise.
•Responsible for providing authoritative advice, guidance and analysis of complex legal matters. Legal interpretation of statues, regulations, case law, DOI rules and bulletins, A.G. opinions and/or NCCI manuals, plan, forms, rules, and procedures. Delegated settlement authority for litigation and other legal proceedings.
•Work with outside counsel in connection with the management of legal matters; legal counsel of NCCI affiliates related to affiliation agreements and vendors; NCCI Board committees and working groups, state regulators and other industry stakeholders in connection with state regulatory proceedings.

WHAT YOU MUST BRING TO THE ROLE:
Senior Counsel qualifications include a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and member of the Florida Bar or licensed to practice law in at least one state and have the ability to obtain certification as Florida Authorized House Counsel. Minimum of 8 years of legal experience in general insurance matters, insurance regulatory law, or other relevant knowledge base, such as:
oComprehensive legal Knowledge and strong organizational skills, able to manage and prioritize a comprehensive workload.
oExcellent communication and written skills, with the ability to effectively write legal and business documents, conduct effective presentations, successfully lead and participate in internal and external meetings, and strong skills in consensus building.
oDemonstrated knowledge of corporate strategies.
oAbility to grasp complex matters and strong analytical skills.
oAbility to interact well with all levels of personnel to include various stakeholders and managing outside counsel.
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A MORE VIABLE CANDIATE:
Insurance regulatory law, litigation, and employment law experience.
