QA Test Automation Engineer

At NCCI, we’re looking for a QA Test Automation Engineer with experience utilizing JavaScript and Cypress I/O, to join our team in developing and executing test strategies, plans, and automated test scripts,ensuring the delivery of quality information systems and software programs. In this role, you’ll serve as a subject matter expert on testing applications and software for assigned areas in the organization.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As a QA Test Automation Engineer, you’ll work with project teams to develop test strategies, plans, and automated test scripts the ensure the appropriate level of testing is performed. In addition, you’ll:

  • Develop automated test scripts, perform tests, and evaluate/validate test results, including functional e2e, regression, systems, customer acceptance, and stress/performance testing
  • Coordinate Customer testing and manage through resolution any defects and issues identified during testing
  • Develop test strategies/plans and test scenarios/cases based on documentation and standards for moderately complex applications and systems
  • Facilitate development of test approach with project team
  • Participate in stand-up reviews of Product Backlog, Sprints, Business Requirements, and application/system design documents
  • Build an understanding of our business functions, applications, and activities related to the project/change request
  • Establish the technical configuration for testing, including all environmental components, data, automated test scripts, and security
  • Coordinate migrations into the QA environment


WHAT IT TAKES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 3+ years experience in quality assurance, application development, automated application/software testing, or software/test engineering
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, additional work experience, trade school, or related certifications will be accepted
  • Working knowledge of an Information Technology environment, including using and testing applications/systems, employing software development and testing methodologies (SCRUM), change management, project management, and information security practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with business and IT partners
  • Detail-oriented with solid analytical skills
  • Experience with the following technologies and tools:
    • Testing Tools/Frameworks: Cypress I/O, Protractor
    • Databases: MariaDB, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, logical database design (relational), relational database retrieval tools
    • Scripting/Programming Languages: JavaScript, Unix shell scripting, SQL
    • Pipeline Automation/Source Code Repositories: Git, Gitlab, Jenkins
    • Software Architectures: .NET, Angular, React, Go
    • Virtualization: Docker containers and Kubernetes
    • Markup Languages: CSS, HTML, XML


    PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

    • Application development background
    • Expertise in more than one testing tool (newer tools preferred e.g. Cypress)
    • Having the QA mindset (inquisitive nature)
    • Constant desire to learn
