Associate Actuary

NCCI seeks an Associate Actuary or Actuary to join our team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN THIS POSITION:

The person in this position will lead complex actuarial projects to produce or enhance NCCI’s actuarial products and services, such as rate filings, legislative cost analyses, reserving, and research.  Communicate results to internal and/or external customers.  Share expertise with junior staff.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE ROLE:

ASSOCIATE ACTUARY:
•   The ACAS/FCAS designation, a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ of actuarial and project leadership experience

ACTUARY:
•   The FCAS designation, a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years’ of actuarial experience including leading complex research and/or high impact projects

Additional Required Skills: 
•     Extensive knowledge of actuarial principles in multiple functional areas and familiarity with NCCI methodologies 
•    Advanced knowledge of actuarial data sources and analytical tools
•    Creative, innovative, and strategic thinking 
•    Advanced analytical skills and strong project management skills
•    Ability to lead complex actuarial projects
•    Ability to peer review the technical work of others and identify areas for improvement that may lead to better approaches
•    Ability to develop the technical and analytical skills of team members
•    Ability to lead a significant project team
•    Good people skills that include understanding the perspectives and needs of others, building mutual respect, and garnering support, customer focused
•   Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to present technical material to technical and non-technical audiences
•    Ability to represent the company in external audiences
•    Expertise in identifying and solving problems

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU AN IDEAL CANDIDATE:

•   Workers Compensation, strongly desired; or Property Casualty experience
•   Research work
•   Production (e.g. ratemaking, reserving and/or legislative analysis) experience
•   Modeling experience
